![]() In summary I think you are going to have to really limit your targets and distances, even more so than with a good 22LR rifle. Also projectiles are not only cheaper but offer superior ballistic performance as they were designed to perform at these velocities unlike 223 projectiles. A small/light rifle in one of these calibers is going to pack considerably more wallop than the subsonic 223 and would be easy to suppress. I just need to be able to estimate my distance.Īs far as 9mm/45ACP go, I was referring to using it on small-medium game such as ***** to deer sized animals. With my Papoose and a ballistic plex scope I can go from hitting tiny objects at 50 yards to hitting bunny sized targets all the way out to 150 yards just by using the scopes ballistic increments. ![]() Therefore, I would still suggest that you will have more consistency and success in going with a light weight 22LR rifle that is zeroed for its intended subsonic ammo. Even with the best circumstances I would be surprised if you can manage any real level of accuracy past those distances. The POI is likely going to be very different but, if you are lucky it might be workable out to 40 or 50 yards with the right load combination. Obviously, you are going to zero your rifle for full-power loads to get the most potential out of it. Another thing you will most certainly have issues with is the POI of subsonic 223 out of a rifle zeroed for full power loads. I'm just pointing out my observations and experiences with this sort of thing. Click to expand.Hey, I won't try to dissuade you from your project I wish you luck.
